April 9, 1942 –  October 9, 2017  WHITESBORO – Funeral Services for Thomas Richard Sims, 75, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at Sadler Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Thomas passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017 at The Homestead of Sherman.

He was born on April 9, 1942 in Fort Worth to Wilmer and Calvin (Sawyer) Sims. He married Rose Anna Mitchusson on June 10, 1961 in Fort Worth. He drove for Roadway Express for thirty years and logged over three million miles without an accident during his career. After retirement, he drove delivery for Axtell Pharmacy in Whitesboro for nine years. He loved his family, always bragging on his grandchildren and was a member of Central Baptist Church at Legacy Point for thirty-one years.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Sims of Whitesboro; two daughters, Cynthia Dusek of Sadler and Lorena Stewart of Sadler; four grandchildren, Matthew Carpenter, Richard Carpenter and wife, Lisa, Taylor Stewart and Brice Stewart; six great-grandchildren, Caleb Carpenter, Mackenzie Carpenter, Trace Burgan, Eli Settles, Marco Lavato and Javen Lavato; two brothers, Fleetwood “Calvin” Sims and Bruce Sims; two sisters, Mollie Huerta and Joy Wild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, W.C. Sims; a son-in-law, J.J. Dusek; and a great-granddaughter, Natalie. http://videos.lifetributes.com/839291
