Funeral Services for Thomas Glenn Kidd, 82, of Gainesville, Texas are scheduled for 11:00 am, Friday, March 10, 2023 at Meador Funeral Home, 1204 E. California Street, Gainesville, Texas.  A visitation will be held at 10:00 am before the service. Reverent Larry Eberhart and Kathy Eberhart officiating.  Mr. Kidd passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at his home in Gainesville, Texas.  Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Meador Funeral Home.

Thomas was born in Myra, Texas on October 3, 1940 to T. R. and Lounette (Sluder) Kidd.  He attended elementary school beginning in Valley View, then in Gainesville through the eighth grade.  He attended and graduated high school in Thackerville, Oklahoma where he was an excellent basketball player.  He was selected as the favorite all-around student for three of four high school years. He served as Sentinel of the FFA chapter for two years.

Thomas married Linda Adams on June 22, 1960 in Thackerville, Oklahoma.  He worked at Southland Paint Company which became DeSoto Paint Company for twenty-five years as a Supervisor.  He then worked at the Denton State School for fifteen years as a Residence Supervisor.

He loved sports and he loved his family.  Thomas was a member of The Family Life Church where he attended regularly.

Survivors include his daughter, Shawna Kidd of Gainesville, Texas; sister, Sharon Prestiage of Gainesville, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and David Griffith of Gainesville, Texas and sister and brother-in-law, Gary and Sheila Sewell of Gainesville, Texas; many nieces and nephews, extended loved ones and friends.

Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Linda (Adams) Kidd; son, Dwayne Kidd; parents, T. R. and Lounette Kidd; sister, Linda Christian; brother, John Kidd; sister-in-law, Jonna Kidd; brothers-in-laws, Kermit Prestiage, Gerald Christian, Jr. Parsons and Truman Adams.

Pallbearers are nephews and great-nephews; Brad Shaw, Trey, Daniel & Taylor Dishman, Keith and Russell Griffith, Chad and Mark Sewell.  Honorary pallbearers are John Smith, Elbert Roston, Ronnie Murray and Curtis Parsons.
