Funeral services for Steven Moran Phelps, 77, of Paris, Texas will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro, officiated by Rev. Jim Everidge.  Interment will be held at 2:00 PM at Highland Cemetery in Deport, Texas.  There will be a time of visitation held for friends and family from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the funeral home.

Steve went home to the Lord on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at his home in Paris surrounded by his love ones.

He was born on January 27, 1942 in Sandusky, TX to L.V. and Anna Lee (Moran) Phelps Sr.  After graduating high school, Steve served our country in the United States Coast Guard.  He married Nila Whitsell on December 10, 1967 in Dallas, TX.  He worked as a pipe fitter in Dallas and then retired from General Motors after 30 years.  Steve loved the Dallas Cowboys and loved coaching softball for his church and for his General Motor’s team. His hobby in life was working and camping.

Steve is survived by his wife, Nila Phelps of Paris, daughter, LaGina Bednar of Kaufman, grandchildren, Anthony Bednar, Kristen Kollowa, Leslie Snyder, Gena Thomas, Wesley Eddleman, Angela Bednar, great-grandchildren, Gavin Bednar-Wunderlich, Abigail Thomas, Adelin Snyder, Hunter, Thomas, Emmett Eddleman, and Lydia Snyder, brother, L.V. Phelps and wife, Melba, sister, Patsy Neasbitt, brother-in-laws, Kenneth Whitsell, Glen Whitsell and Calvin Whitsell, sister-in-law, LaVoyce Sims as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Bednar, Wesley Eddleman, Leslie Snyder, Johnny Lee Godsey, Dustin Thomas and Angela Bednar.  Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Whitsell, Glen Whitsell and Calvin Whitsell.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, L.V and Anna Lee Phelps Sr., daughter, Tonya Eddleman and several siblings.
