Whitesboro – Samuel Terrell Cummings, 74, of Whitesboro, passed from this life on Thursday, September 13, 2018. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro. No services are planned at this time.He was born February 29, 1944 in Mississippi to George Terrell and Dorthea (Melton) Cummings. He was one of 14 children born to the family of seven boys and seven girls. He started out in very humble beginnings but throughout his life became very successful by working hard in the oilfield industry, from testing pipes to moving rigs and then owning oil and gas leases. He married his wife of 39 years Patsy Crow in 1979. Sam was a big hearted, generous man with lots of friends, a man who loved his wife, his children and his grandkids tremendously. Besides his family, he had a love for life, he loved to fish and hunt, dabble with old cars, watch Nascar and visit the casinos. Sam was a huge fan of Texas Longhorn football and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a long-standing member of the Elks Club in Borger, Texas.

Sam is survived by his wife, Patsy Cummings of Whitesboro, daughter, Teresa Gwen Lee and husband, David of Pampa, stepson, Johnny Plumley and wife, Pasha of Borger, stepson, Michael Plumley and wife, Jodina of Borger, six grandchildren, eight, great-grandchildren, three brothers, four sisters, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorthea Cummings, four brothers and two sisters.
