Sammie Flowers was born on December 14, 1924, to Frank and Trucilla (Lindsey) Kelley in Wolfe City, Texas, and later moved to Ft. Worth, Texas, where she graduated from IM Terrell High School. She was baptized at an early age and continued to faithfully serve the Lord in COGIC in Ft. Worth, Texas, and later at Old Mt. Olive and Corinth Baptist Church in Gainesville, Texas. Sammie worked for a number of years at Turner Hotel as a cook. She later retired from Gainesville Memorial Hospital on O’Neal Street after 19 years of service. Sammie married J.C. Flowers, Sr., on December 5, 1942. They celebrated over 70 years of holy matrimony. To this union 8 children were born. Mrs. Flowers went to be with her Savior on May 13, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant daughter, Bonnie Flowers, four sisters, Annie McCleary, Thelma Kelley and Narlene Kelley of Ft. Worth, Texas and Winnie Mae of Stockton, CA and one brother, Newis Goodman of Gilmer, Texas. Mrs. Flowers leaves to cherish her memories seven children, Donna Henry (J.C.) of Ft. Worth, Texas, J.C. Flowers, Jr., Barbara Johnson, Linda Flowers, Saundra Goree of Gainesville, Texas, Billy Flowers, Sr., of Oak Ridge, Texas, Evelyn Patton of Dallas, Texas, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, her special sister-in-law, Eddie Mae Scott of Gainesville, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018, at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m, on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at The First United Methodist Church, Gainesville, Texas.
