May 2, 1941 – February 14, 2017 Celebration of Life Services for Royce Bridges Melton, 75, of Whitesboro, Texas will be held Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at Legacy Pointe Central Baptist Church, Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the church Sunday before the service. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home, Whitesboro, Texas. Royce passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at his home in Whitesboro with his loving family by his side. He was born to Roy and Ruth (Bridges) Melton on May 2, 1941 in Whitesboro, Texas. He married Linda Tolleson on November 21, 1969 in Whitesboro, Texas. Royce worked at General Motors in Arlington, Texas for 28 years. He was a member of Legacy Pointe Central Baptist Church of Whitesboro and was a follower of Christ. He loved to work crossword puzzles and read newspapers. He was an avid bird watcher and a recliner Wheel of Fortune whiz. Royce loved his family and loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. He was loved by his church family and a host of friends. Royce had a smile and personality that would warm any heart. He is survived by his wife, Linda Melton of Whitesboro; daughters, Paige Whitecotton and husband, Dale of McKinney and Holly Burns and husband, Paul of Sherman; 7 grandchildren, Kyle Melton, Tyler Melton, Andrew Whitecotton, Cooper Whitecotton, Eli Whitecotton, Jade Burns and McKinlee Burns; sisters, Dorothy Slaten, Ann Allred, Linda Clark and Jenny Culpepper; brothers, Mac Melton, Wayne Melton and Bill Melton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruth Melton; son, Scott Melton; 2 brothers, Jim and Joe Melton and a sister, Peggy Melton.
