February 24, 1932 – August 25, 2017 COLLINSVILLE – Funeral Services for Robert Walter Carney, 85, will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Collinsville with Rev. Jerry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Collinsville Cemetery. Service are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.Robert passed away on Friday at his residence in Collinsville.
He was born on Feb. 24, 1932 in Gunter to Clifford Benjamin Carney and Laura (Welch) Carney. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. Robert married Peggy Joyce Stockton on Dec. 15, 1954 in Tioga. He loved people and was in car sales most of his life. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. Robert also enjoyed visiting the residents of the Collinsville Nursing Home and frequented the Poor Boy Cafe in Collinsville. He was a big Denver Broncos fan and was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include two grandsons, Daniel Bates and wife, Samantha of Collinsville and Rick Bates of Collinsville; three great-grandchildren, Dax Bates, Denver Bates and Rowdy Bates; three brothers, Richard Carney and wife, Betty of Denton, Ralph Carney and wife, Germaine of Whitesboro and Clifford Carney and wife, Jo of Collinsville; a sister, Mary Swindle and husband, Charles of Collinsville; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Laura Carney; wife, Peggy Carney and a daughter, Nancy Carney.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Carney, Randy Carney, Rusty Carney, Scott Swindle, Brent Swindle and Ronnie O’Neal. Honorary pallbearers will be John, Noe, Grady Carney and Davis Carney. http://videos.lifetributes.com/829226
