December 14, 1918 –  February 5, 2005  Services for Robert Elliott Bennett age 86 of Van Alstyne will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Halfast officiating, . Interment will follow at the Gordonville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Bennett died Saturday, February 5, 2005 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman.

He was born December 14, 1918 to David G. and Mable (Elliott) Bennett in Hagerman, TX.

Robert married Lorene Renfroe on November 7, 1942 in Whitesboro, TX.

Robert attained the rank of Staff Sgt. and was a World War II Veteran in the U.S. Air Force from 1942-1946. Robert has been retired from Kaiser Aluminum as a maintence man for 20 years. He was a member of Sadler Methodist Church.

Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife: Lorene Bennett of Van Alstyne, Daughter: Linda Whitefield and husband Ronnie of Stephenville, TX, two grandsons: Timothy Whitefield of North Richland Hills, TX and Matthew Whitefield of Rocksprings, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be: Jim Alexander, James Alexander, Tom Tischer, Bart Bruton, John Stroud and Billie Bennett
