October 2, 1936 – May 4, 2016 Funeral services for Ray Bilbrey, 79, of Whitesboro will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church of Whitesboro, 34309 U.S. Hwy. 82 with Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home. Family visitation will be held Friday, May 6, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30P.M. at the funeral home. Ray was called to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, with his family by his side at WNJ Hospital in Sherman.
He was born to Marvin and Alta (Porter) Bilbrey on October 2, 1936 in Duke, Oklahoma. Ray was a native of Oklahoma and was raised at Seiling, Oklahoma by his Godparents, Harold F. Jackson and Flora (Blackie) Jackson. Following high school, he served in the United States Air Force for four years stationed at Perrin Air Base, Denison, and after his honorable discharge, he married Delores “Yvonne” Green on January 15, 1958 in Sherman, Texas. He and Yvonne settled in Whitesboro in 1962 when an oil boom brought him to an oilfield related business working as a salesman in the oilfield supply business. Ray worked in the oilfield business until his retirement in 2000. He was a member and served as a deacon of Central Baptist Church of Whitesboro. Ray enjoyed sports, gardening and working in his yard, old music and watching the Hallmark channel and the Western channel and could quote every word of every John Wayne movie by heart. He loved his family and his friends greatly.
The family would like to thank some very special people – Delisa and Donald Tuckness of Whitesboro, Royce and Linda Melton of Whitesboro, Central Baptist Church family and the staff of Texoma Healthcare Center in Sherman, WNJ Hospital staff and two special nurses Stevi Emerson from THC and Roger from WNJ Hospital and Dr. Michael J. Benson for all of their love, support and care during this difficult time.
Pallbearers will be: Terry O’Toole, Norman Boren, Colby Kennedy, Brandon Parker, Daniel Meeks and Elmer Aldridge. Honorary pallbearers are Lewis Cavin, Royce Melton and Gaylon Parker.
He is survived by his son, Terry Bilbrey and wife, Bonita of Denison; daughter, Sharon Bryan and husband, Cary of Whitesboro; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Gerald Bilbrey and wife, Ginger of Oklahoma City, OK and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Bilbrey and Alta Smith and Harold and Blackie Jackson; wife, Yvonne Bilbrey; sister, Retha Aldridge; and brother, Marless Bilbrey. http://videos.lifetributes.com/698446
