“Pancho” Curtis Wayne Scribner sadly departed from us on September 5, 2023. He came into this world as son to Forrest and Mina Belle Scribner on November 19, 1942. Pancho was preceded by his wife of 40 years, Dee Dee Scribner and is survived by their three children, Tony, Jasper and Summer Scribner. He was a beloved Papa to his 2 grandchildren, Leah and Cole Scribner.
Pancho was an artisan and blacksmith who loved any activity that allowed him to be free in the outdoor air. As a master storyteller, his charisma and character enabled him to turn any conversation into a campfire odyssey. He was a fiercely independent man who was loyal to a fault and fondly known by many.
While his daily presence will be deeply missed, his impact and the love we all have for him is everlasting. A Memorial Service is scheduled at Meador Funeral Home Chapel, 1204 E. California Street, Gainesville, Texas on September 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
Curtis and I were 1st cousins. Him and my older brother were the same age so we grew up together. We had lost touch with each other until about 10 years ago. I came to Gainesville in 2014 and stayed with Poncho for 3 days. It was like a family reunion of 2. ever since then we have talked on the phone about ounce a week and when you talked to Poncho you better figure on 45 min. to an hour or more. I truly enjoyed it
and will miss the weekly weather report from Texas.
Summer and Tony sorry to hear of your loss. Tony, I got to know you while driving a semi and hauling hauling grain. Summer, through the years I have thought of you often as you graduated high school with my son Kevin I will make sure that he knows that you lost your dad. It’s very hard to lose someone but know that he’s in heaven looking down on y’all. I’m still caring.
