April 8, 1929 –  February 9, 2013  Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Elizabeth Krahl Sicking, 83 of Myra, is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint Mary?s Church in Gainesville. Frs. Victor Cruz and Ken Robinson will celebrate the mass. Burial will be in the New Resthaven Cemetery. Services are directed by Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home of Gainesville.

Mrs. Sicking passed away Saturday, February 9 at the Integrity Transitional Hospital in Denton Texas.

A prayer vigil and rosary is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mary Sicking was born in Scotland Texas on April 8, 1929 to Elizabeth and Joseph Krahl.

Mary?s siblings are Bernard Krahl, Edward Krahl, Martin Krahl, Victoria (Vicki) Self, Wilfred Krahl, Lydia Krahl Garaway, George Krahl, Mildred (Millie) Krahl Koesler, James (Jimmy) Krahl, Patsy Krahl Lutkenhaus and Steve Krahl

Mary moved to Gainesville at age 19 from Scotland with her family to the Krahl Farm, south of Gainesville, where she lived until her marriage to Emmett Joseph Sicking, a prominent dairy farmer with a farm 2 miles south of Myra. Mary, Emmett and family were members of Sacred Heart Parish and attended school in Muenster for 42 years. They lived on the farm and raised 11 children. Mary and Emmett moved to Gainesville where Emmett died 3 years later in 1989. Mary worked for 13 years at the Deli at Tom Thumb until her retirement.

Mary is known as an experienced gardener especially with tomatoes, apples and flowers, and as a master quilter, and embroiderer. Her quilts have been donated to Sacred Heart Parish in Muenster, St Peter?s Parish in Lindsey and to St Mary?s Parish. Her 11 children, 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren all have quilts made by Mary of which they greatly cherish.

Pallbearers are Ryan Sicking, Cody Sicking, Brent Sicking, Adam Winter, Travis Sicking, and Jodie Lutkenhaus

Survivors include her children Joan Lutkenhaus of Bedford Texas, Clifford Sicking of Muenster Texas, Joyce Dostart of La Jolla, California, Virginia Arendt of Richardson Texas, Debbie Felderhoff of Lee?s Summit, Missouri, Lois Dieter of Upland California, Julie Hutchon of The Woodlands Texas, Laura Hamilton of Vancouver Washington, Bryan Sicking of Myra Texas, Bill Sicking of Myra Texas, and Mark Wayne Sicking dearly departed January 2005.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Emmett; son Mark Wayne; parents Elizabeth and Joseph Krahl; a grandson Clinton Sicking; brothers Bernard Krahl, Edward Krahl, Martin Krahl, Wilfred Krahl, and George Krahl.
