Marvin Wallace Lutes, 86 of Gainesville, Texas passed away on June 4, 2023.  He was born on January 8, 1937, in Fort Worth, Texas to Marvin Craven Lutes and Lillian Culip.  He married Barbara Sue Looney in Ardmore, Oklahoma on November 30, 1957.  Marvin was a member of the First Baptist Church in Whitesboro, Texas. He was also employed by the University Texas, Arlington, Texas.  Marvin and Sue had been married for 65 years.  He loved to garden, rock in his swing and admire his garden.  Marvin was a member of the Cushman Motorcycle Club.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Sue Lutes of Gainesville, Texas; daughter, Cheryll Ann Thompson of Collinsville, Texas; daughter, Melinda Kay Lutes of Ft. Worth, Texas; grandchildren: Steven Ryan Fowler of Gainesville, Texas, Kayla Michelle Roach of Lebanon, Missouri, Travis Michael Roach of Colorado, Isabel Gamboa of Ft. Worth, Texas; great-grandchildren, Savannah Ray Fowler of Pilot Point, Texas, Riley Elizabeth Fowler of Pilot Point, Texas; sister, Ethelene Rodriguez of Temple, Texas.

Preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Lillian Lutes; daughter, Donna Lynn Roach; brothers, Tommy Lutes and Melton Lutes.

Memorial service will be officiated by Rev. Mike Flanagan to be held on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church, Whitesboro, Texas.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Gainesville.
