Lana Ruth Henderson, 77, of Collinsville, Texas was called home to a glorious reunion with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Lana was born on September 21, 1946 in Whitesboro, Texas to Alden and Kathleen (Heffley) Dove. She attended school in Collinsville. Lana married Gene Henderson on October 16, 1964 in Collinsville. She worked as a Pharmacy Technician and bookkeeper for Larry’s Pharmacy in Whitesboro and for Axtell’s Pharmacy until her retirement. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Collinsville. Lana liked to travel and enjoyed her yearly girl’s trip with her friends and sisters-in-law. She enjoyed tending the cows with Gene, skiing and being out on the lake in the boat. Her greatest joy in life was her family, being granmma to her precious grandchildren. She cherished her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Henderson of Collinsville; son, Tar Henderson and wife, Elaine of Tijeras, New Mexico; daughter, Dawna Henderson Michalke of Collinsville; grandchildren, Heather Kell and husband, Bryan; Heath Henderson, Hayden Smith, Cooper Smith, three great-grandchildren, Rylee Kell, Kinley Kell and Miles Kell, brother, Johnny Mack Dove and wife, Martine of Collinsville; sister-in-law, Judy Dove, as well as other loving family members.
Lana was preceded in death by her parents, Alden and Kathleen Dove, and brother, Darnell Dove.
A memorial service honoring Lana will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 29, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Collinsville, officiated by Rev. Tar Henderson. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro.
Lana was a very close friend. We have been friends since 1962. She loved life. Her family came first along with her Faith. She will be missed so much.

Lana was a woman who was a light to all those she came in contact with. I will remember her as a strong woman who fought with valor and loved well. I will miss her greatly.

She was always a sweet lady to me. I saw her often at the post office. Prayers for all the family.

I loved Lana from the first time I met her. She was always so friendly and exhibited her love for Christ and loved others as well. I will miss seeing her in her family pew on Sunday mornings then after church getting to get a smile and hug from her. It didn’t matter how bad of a week she had had, she always had a smile on her face.
My hearts breaking for Lana’s family, but we know she’s with our Lord an Savior! Words cannot express my love for Lana an her family. I’ve know her for 27 years an is a friend who served her Lord an was an example of a devoted Christian ever where she went! I am praying for our Precious Lord to wrap his arms around her family an give them strength to endure🌺🙏🏻❤️
My dear sweet little neice…only God knows how much I will miss her in the days to follow…Knowing that she is where she longed for makes my loss easier to bear..I pray the loving arms of Jesus will hold her in complete love until we have that great reunion by and by…Precious memories, how the linger!
Lana was such an inspiration to everyone. She fought the fight and never backed down. She did everything that was asked of her. Always showing grace and courage. I will miss my friend. Prayers for her sweet family. I hope they know how much she loved them.
Lana was one of my favorite cousins. She was so brave in her fight against cancer. I loved her faith in Jesus, and her love and care for others. We will all miss her so much. I know she is in the arms of God! And that is where we will meet up again.
I am so sorry to read of Lana’s passing. We use to run the the same social circle years and years ago. Always enjoyed being around Gene and Lana. Good people. My sincere condolences to the entire family.
