John Ware King, 84 of Gainesville, Texas passed away on November 17, 2023.  He was born on August 31, 1939, in Gainesville, Texas to William Ira King and Billie Lu (Purcell) King Trewin. He graduated from Temple Tech High School and attended the University of Arlington.  John married Martha Ray Cole in Weatherford, Texas on December 5, 1959. He enlisted in the US Army and served from 1960-1963 during the Cuban crisis and was stationed at Ft. Wainright in Fairbanks, Alaska.   John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling all over the world, he loved his family most of all.

John is survived by his wife, Martha Ray King; children, Timothy Ware King, Tracy Lynne King Franks Jordan & husband, James; grandchildren, Brian Franks & wife, Stephanie, Stewart Franks & wife, Syble, Shelbi Franks, Jessica King Trent; great-grandchildren, Addison, Ella, Camille, Kennedy, Alex, Olivia and Lincoln.

Preceded in death by father, Ira King; mother, Billie Lu (Purcell) King; sister, Peggy King Gray; brother, Billy Ira King.

Pallbearers will be: James Jordan, Brian Franks, Stewart Franks, Rodney Cole, Clayton Brantley & Eddie DeMars.

A visitation will be held on November 25, 2023, 2:00 pm, at Meador Funeral Home, 1204 E. California Street, Gainesville, Texas.  Funeral Service will begin at 3:00 pm at Meador Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment at Nelson Grove Cemetery, Woodbine. Texas.  Service will be officiated by Bro. Jeff Langley.
