November 22, 1926 –  February 21, 2013  GAINESVILLE ? Funeral services for John Dee Holt, 86, will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas, with Rev. Don Westbrook and Rev. Eddie Chennault officiating. Interment will follow the service at Cedarlawn Cemetery in Sherman, Texas. Visitation services will be Friday, February 22, from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.He passed away at his residence in Gainesville, Texas on February 21, 2013.
John was born on November 22, 1926 in Gainesville, Texas to Mansel Dee and Ethel M. Holt. He married Jackie Barrett on December 2, 1977 in Sherman, Texas. He served his country during World War II as a Seabee in the U. S. Navy. He was a farmer and rancher for many years. He worked for many years as a technician for the Soil Conservation Service of Cooke County before retiring. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Gainesville, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Holt, of Gainesville, TX; daughters: Beverly Green and husband, Rick, of Sherman, TX; Barbara Boland and husband, Bob, of Sherman, TX; and Becky Krueger and husband, Vernon, of Corinth, TX; grandchildren: Neil Sladecek and wife, Heather, of Sherman, TX; Courtney Fadal and husband, Hugh, of Sequin, TX; Shawn Davis and wife, Colby, of Montague, TX; Branda McEwen and husband, Michael, of Ponder, TX; Landon Krueger and wife, Jocelyn, of Dallas, TX; and Jessica Caulfield of McKinney; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Holt of Gainesville, TX; and nephew, Robert Holt, of Gainesville, TX.
The pallbearers will be Shawn Davis, Neil Sladecek, Landon Krueger, Michael McEwen, Hugh Fadal, and Robert Holt.
