A visitation will be held an hour before the service at 1:00 p.m. Jimmie went to heaven September 10, 2016, at Nannaw’s Assisted Living in Denison, Texas. He was born to James (Jim) Orlando & Connie Cloree (Bowman) Eldredge on March 28, 1930, in Sadler, Texas. With 3 older sisters and no boys, Jim was elated that he finally had a son. Needless to say, he spoiled him.
He grew up in Sadler, graduating from Sadler High in 1947. Basketball was his favorite sport, where he excelled in making goals and speed. His nickname was “Legs”. He was drafted into the Army March 16, 1951, to March 15, 1953, and was stationed in Augusta, Ga where he worked in the motor pool, driving generals and important people around when they visited the base, but he also had other duties. He said, “no KP” as he worked at night and slept during the day. His name got on the overseas list several times, but a high ranking officer in Washington would remove his and A.Z. Godwin’s name everytime. The two had no idea who this fellow was and why he removed their names. Jimmie and A.Z. worked nights together.
Not long before he got out of the service, he married Janell Fielder and to them were born Sheryl Ann in 1953, and Terry Lynn in 1955. On September 16, 1960, he married Pat Harshbarger. Pat had 2 children, Lyresa Jean and D’Andrea Kay whom Jimmie adopted, but not formally. On November 27, 1965, our son, Bryan Mack was born and we lost him June 21, 2012. The family lived in Sherman where he was a Pumper/Gauger for Chevron Oil Company. Eight years later, Chevron transferred him to Sivells Bend, north of Gainesville. The family lived in Gainesville the rest of his time with Chevron, retiring in 1990, after 31 years. The family moved to Sadler to be near family, but the oil field called him, so he purchased a shallow field near Iowa Park. Jimmie and his family lived in Electra for 2 years. When the price of oil bottomed out, he sold the field and retired to Sadler on land purchased by Pat’s grandparents, Sam and Ora Harshbarger in 1890. He was excellent on a lawn mower and kept the roadsides and other land looking like a golf course.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; son, Terry & wife, Debi Eldredge; daughters, Sheryl and husband, Glenn Voth, Lyresa and husband, Bernie Descoteau and D’Andrea and husband, Dave Haydel; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Ford and brother, Joe Lee Eldredge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Connie Eldredge; son, Bryan Mack Eldredge; grandson, Andrew David Haydel; brother, Jerry Eldredge and sisters, Laverne, Weowna & Billie Faye.
