Janet “Jan” Ruth Johnson,82, of Collinsville, TX formerly of McKinney passed away on March 9th, 2022 in Gainesville. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 16th, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Gainesville with Dr. Jeff Langley officiating with interment to follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Collinsville, TX. Jan will lay in state at the Chapel of Meador Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 15th, 2022, from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM.
Jan was born on November 7, 1939, in Stephenville, TX, to Kenneth and Ruth Marshall Long. She married Scott Morgan Johnson on May 29th, 1960, in McKinney, TX. Jan loved her husband very much and was always proud to be his wife. She was a member of First Baptist Gainesville and previously a longtime member of First Baptist McKinney. Jan graduated from the University of North Texas earning her master’s degree in education. She taught elementary school and was a librarian for McKinney ISD for over 35 years. Jan loved her sons, their spouses and all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jan loved to read, as well as travel with her close friends and sister Pat. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Sassy Sisters, Prosper Century Book Club and volunteered at the Gainesville hospital. Jan loved all her animals but particularly her cats.
She is survived by her sons Scotty Johnson and wife Kelli of Seminole, TX, Ross Johnson and wife Kim of Seminole, TX; grandchildren Jake Johnson and wife Kayla of Lubbock, TX, Taylor Johnson and wife Ashley of Seminole, Kara Hawkins and husband Jonathan of Moore, OK, Jarett and wife Lyla Johnson of Humble, TX, Cason Johnson of Seminole; great-grandchildren Gage Johnson, Lilah Johnson, Ezra Hawkins, Camila Johnson; sister Pat Loftin of Jacksboro, TX; nieces Alison Hale and husband Randy, Sherry King and husband Cavin; great-nieces Logan and Lindsey King, as well as many friends and neighbors.
Jan is preceded in death by her husband Scott Morgan Johnson; parents Kenneth and Ruth Long; grandson Jace Kayde Johnson.

Jan was a sweet lady that visited our store quite frequently. She had such a great sense of humor snd laugh. So sorry she fell ill and died too quickly! Prayers for her family as she now rests in peace with her Heavenly Father ????
