Ima Jean (Beaver) Stevens was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 10, 2020.
She was born January 24, 1930 to Lee Ora and General Sherman Beaver, the first of six children. Ima Jean worked many years at the Gainesville Court House in the County Clerks office. Later she retired after working many years at the Shepard Airforce Base Annex at Lake Texoma. Ima Jean, lovingly known as “Nanny” loved her family. She enjoyed reading and being outdoors, spending time tending her many flowers. She also loved red birds and the ocean. But most of all, she loved Jesus with all her heart and loved preaching and gospel music. She attended church faithfully at Legacy Pointe Central Baptist Church of Whitesboro for as long as she was able. We will all miss Nanny.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonita Meeks and husband, Ronnie of Whitesboro; daughter, Belinda Johnson and husband Mike Carroll of Bacliff, Texas; five grandchildren, Sean Stevens, Brad Meeks and wife Tracy, Lauren Bayer and husband, Chad, Daniel Meeks and wife, Donna and Kaitie Barczak and husband, Chris, eleven great-grandchildren, sisters, Gertrude Holt, Frances Hyde, and brothers, David Beaver and wife, Evelyn, James Beaver, Randall Beaver and wife, Eva.
Ima Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Howard Stevens and son, William (Bill) Stevens.
Graveside services honoring Ima Jean will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 14, 2020 at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas, officiated by Rev. Lyndell Lee. There will be a time of visitation for friends and family held at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro on Sunday, September 13, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Bonita and Belinda, we were so sad to learn of Jean’s passing. I have the fondest memories of getting to spend part of my summer’s at your home on Mills St. and in later years at the lake home. Although Jean always worked, she always made time to haul us around to swim, go to the dairy and to church camp. It was on one of those camp trips that I made the decision to accept Christ Jesus as my savior. Our thoughts and prayers are with you now and always.❤️
I’m so sorry to hear of Mrs. Stevens passing. God bless and keep you all
Bonita, I am so sorry to hear about you mother. I really enjoyed helping her when she came to the pharmacy. My prayers are with you and your family.
I was very sorry to hear of Ima Jean’s passing. We know that today she is in Paradise with her Savior and those that have gone on before her. I pray that God will comfort you all throughout this time of sorrow.
She was a Sweet lady and always loved talking to her and always had a Smile on her face every time I saw her at CENTRAL BAPTIST CHURCH.
She will be missed.
Soon we will all be together in Heaven with the lord won’t be long we will see
Ima Jean again.
