November 8, 1932 –  December 21, 2014  GAINESVILLE – Funeral services for Helen Jo Heffley, 82, will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Lonnie Dotson and Rev. Larry Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow the services at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Collinsville. Visitation services were held Monday, December 22, 2014, at the funeral home from 6-7 p.m.She died on Sunday, December 21, 2014, peacefully at her home in Gainesville, Texas.
Helen was born on November 8, 1932 in Cooke County to Sam Bass and Lillie Mae (Locke) Springs. She married Noah Heffley, Jr. on January 28, 1950 in Gainesville, Texas. Noah and Helen were the owners of Heffley’s Wood Heaters in Gainesville since 1977. They were long-time members of the Shady Grove Congregational Methodist Church. They were married until his passing in 1999. She loved to sew quilts for her family. She made one for each child, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Doug Heffley, and his wife, Dena, of Whitesboro; daughter, Gwen Harwell, of Gainesville; sisters: Wilma Buchanan of Whitesboro, Wanda Cardwell of Argyle, and Alma Blythe of Gainesville; grandchildren: Lisa Sconce and husband, Chad; Aaron Heffley and wife, Karen; Jason Heffley and wife, Cynthia; and Leah Harwell; great-grandchildren: Hunter Sconce, Stormie Sconce, Maryann Heffley, Keaton Heffley, Caitlynn Heffley, Dawson Heffley, Canyon Heffley, and Bristyn Heffley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Heffley Jr.; and her parents, Sam and Lillie Springs.
The pallbearers will be Aaron Heffley, Jason Heffley, Chad Sconce, Hunter Sconce, Jeff Cardwell, and L. A. Bridges.
