Hazle Maurine Carnes, 98, of Gordonville, Texas was called home to her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.

Hazle was born on September 5, 1924 in Denton, Texas to Andrew Jackson and Gertrude M. (Bottoms) Worrell.  She married Aubrey “Buddy” Carnes on May 23, 1942 in Paducah, Texas and they were married for 62 years prior to his passing in 2004.  Being a Christian woman, her faith was most important to her, she was a member of First Baptist church in Gordonville.  She and her husband participated in missions and spent time teaching VBS to children in Mexico.  She enjoyed crocheting and sewing, she was an excellent seamstress and cook.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Anita Carnes, two grandchildren, Scott and Carissa as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Hazle was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Gertrude Worrell, her beloved husband, Buddy Carnes, her son, George Carnes and her siblings.

Pallbearers will be, Dennis Clark, Brent Clark, Jeff Edwards, Wayne Edwards, Dylan Sides, and Chad Worrell.

Funeral services honoring Hazle will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Gordonville, officiated by Rev. Jim Hardwick and Rev. Ollie Pierson.  Interment will follow at Belew Cemetery in Pilot Point.  A time of visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
