WHITESBORO ? Funeral services for Grady Leon Gaddie, 87, will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas, with Mike Bentley officiating. Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. There is no formal visitation planned. He passed away on January 20, 2013 at Texas Health Presbyterian-WNJ, in Sherman, Texas.

Grady was born on October 2, 1925 to Gus and Effie (Gaskin) Gaddie in Whitesboro, Texas. Grady was a life-long resident of Whitesboro. He married Betty Vannoy on December 23, 1949, in Whitesboro. He was a member of the North Union Street Church of Christ. He proudly served his country as a member of the U. S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed gardening and fishing and building ornamental bird houses. He was a man of the soil, well known for cultivating his ?Grady Tomatoes?, which had a wonderful taste and which he supplied to people throughout the county.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Gaddie of Whitesboro, TX; daughter, Jane Thompson and husband, Ray, of Houston, TX; granddaughter, Laura Thompson, of Houston, TX; sisters: Virginia Carter and husband, Paul, of Sherman, TX; and Mary Lou Stinebaugh of Sherman, TX; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Gus and Effie Gaddie; a sister, Ruby Fae Wooten, and his infant daughter, Tina Kay Gaddie.

Pallbearers will be Damon Vannoy, Clifton Vannoy, Jack Boston, Bobby Clay, Fred Gibbs and Jay Cheatham. Honorary pallbearers will be Morris Peregrine, Darden Fletcher and Harold Butts.
