March 5, 1917 –  January 24, 2009  WHITESBORO â?? Funeral services for G. W. â??Jimâ? McGinnis, 91, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Jerry Henry officiating. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Mount Rose Memorial Park in Lebanon, MO. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M., Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at the funeral home.
Jim passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman.

G. W. â??Jimâ? was born on March 5, 1917 in Durant, OK to Bolivar Dixon and Theodocia (Tibbs) McGinnis. He served in the United States Navey as an Apprentice Seaman. Jim married Charlene Gregory on July 6, 1996 in Sadler, TX. He was a member and trustee for many years at the Sadler Baptist Church. Jim was well known as the â??Candymanâ? and the â??Watermelon Manâ?, he gave everybody candy and took watermelons to nursing homes and shut-ins. Jim was always witnessing about his faith in the Lord, and he was a kid at heart.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene McGinnis of Whitesboro; 2 daughters, Louise Feingold and Loretta Blodgett; 3 step-sons, Bobby Landers and wife Vickie, Gene Landers and wife Pam and Ken Landers; a brother, Don McGinnis; sister, Faye Jean McGinnis and sister-in-law, Harlene McGinnis; 6 granddaughters, 9 grandsons, 7 great-granddaughters and 9 great-grandsons.

Pallbearers are Gene Landers, Jr., Bobby Landers, Jr., Beau Landers, Trey Landers, Jeffrey Landers and Kade Landers.

Honorary pallbearers are Bill Henry, Ele Neasbitt, Gene Davis, Gary Canady and Greg Krueger.
