WHITESBORO-Funeral services for Elizabeth Ann (King) Burton, 86, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Chambersville Cemetery in McKinney. A family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018 at the funeral home.
Elizabeth passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Wilson N. Jones in Sherman, Texas.

Elizabeth was born in Sherman, Texas on August 1, 1932 to Roy C. and Emma Pearl (Lyons) King. She married Billy Glenn Burton on June 11, 1954. Elizabeth had a master’s degree in Education. She was the first bilingual teacher for Grand Prairie ISD, the first female administrator for Grand Prairie ISD and the first female principal in the state of Texas. Elizabeth had a love for children. She volunteered at Whitesboro Middle School having over 10,000 hours in volunteer hours. Elizabeth was the volunteer of the year for 2012-2013 in the state of Texas. She was a member of the Texas Education Association. Elizabeth was of the Presbyterian faith.

Survivors include her husband; Billy Burton; three children, Beverly Twigg of Whitesboro, Clifton Burton of Whitesboro and Gregory Burton of Irving; sisters Carol Thompson and Ruthie Brown; grandchildren, Laura Palin, Matthew Burton, Alycia Bennett, Kathleen Burton, Julia Burton and eight great grandchildren, Brianna, Kristina, Joshua, Hannah, Charlotte, Sophia, Madison and Emmeline.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy C. King and Emma Pearl King; great granddaughter, Samantha Palin.

Pallbearers; Clifton Burton, Gregory Burton, Matthew Burton, Mark Palin, Gene Herron and Les Bennett.
