September 18, 1931 –  August 6, 2015  WHITESBORO- Funeral services for Doyce Allred,83, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, August 9, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Whitesboro with Rev. Joe Patterson, Rev. Rick Carney and Rev. Mike Flanagan officiating. Interment will follow at Nelson Grove Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home Whitesboro. Family visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the funeral home. Doyce passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at TMC in Denison.
Doyce was born on September 18, 1931 in Woodbine, Texas to George Porter and Frances Viola (Cavin) Allred. He married Ann Melton on July 14, 1956 in Whitesboro. Doyce served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Whitesboro, one of the founding members of Whitesboro Riding Club and a member of the National Rifle Association. Doyce was the owner of a boot and saddle Shop for 30 years and a great leather craftsman. He was also a horse shoer for 50 years and a radar tech at Parrin Air Force Base for 15 years. Doyce worked as a power plant operator for Tel Co Power Plant and Oscar Myer.
Doyce loved to watch his grandson, Tanner play baseball. He enjoyed his horses, tractors, mowing and farming. He liked to mentor young men by teaching them different trades. Doyce served five terms on the City Council for the City of Whitesboro. He enjoyed his life with his bride of 59 years, their greatest pleasure was drinking coffee at various places with all of their Whitesboro friends over the years.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Allred of Whitesboro; 2 sons, Mike Allred and wife, Becky of Whitesboro and Don Allred and wife, Kika of Taos, New Mexico; 2 grandsons, Tanner Allred, Aaron Allred and wife Dayna; a sister, Mattie Lawrence and her son, Roger Carr and wife, Lynn and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Frances Allred, half brother, Oscar Odom and 2 half sisters, Alma Locke and Nita Tatum.
Pallbearers will be: Tommy Gene Foster, Mark Chestnut, Keary Williams, Warren Maher, Phil LaQuey, and B.B. Reedy.
