August 1, 1939 –  April 15, 2013  Loving father and grandfather, Dee Ross “Shorty” Sutton, went home to be with the Lord, Monday morning, April 15, 2013. He died at the age of 73 at Integrity Transitional Hospital in Denton. Shorty was born August 1, 1939 in Muenster, Texas to Anderson Paul and Delia Mae (Richardson) Sutton. He and Brenda Kay Poynor were married November 2, 1957 in Gainesville. Mr. Sutton served his country in the US Army. He worked as a machinist for Northrop Grumman in Grand Prairie and was a union representative for twelve years. Shorty was the owner of Hobby Artistic Creations and Wood and was best known for his wooden boxes. He was a member of Prairie Point Church of the Nazarene where he served as a board member.

Funeral Services for Dee Ross Sutton will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 18th at Prairie Point Church of the Nazarene in Rosston with Rev. Larry Wright and Rev. Ricky Kerr officiating. Interment will follow in Rosston Cemetery under the direction of Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jace Sutton, Tristin Middleton, Zac Presley, David Bennett and Darrel Sutton. Visitation will be Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m.

Survivors of Shorty Sutton include his son, Brian Sutton and his wife, Debbie of Forestburg; daughter, Jalise Middleton and husband, Mark of Forestburg; brother, Travis Sutton of Forestburg; ten grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Patsy Sutton. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sons, Darin Sutton and Bradley Sutton and sisters, Juanita Cote, Johnnie Ruth Blankenship and Callie Presley.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetic Association or Prairie Point Church of the Nazarene.
