Chuck’s story began in Olney Texas on May 21st 1948. He attended schools in Olney, Texas then, later, worked in the Texas oil fields as a roughneck learning the valuable lesson of what it means to work hard. In 1968 Chuck volunteered and joined the United States Marine Corp proudly serving his country for 15+ years. In the Corp he served two tours in Vietnam. He returned stateside remaining in active duty at Weymouth, MA where he married the mother of his four children, Wendie Levings. From MA he was transferred to the Marine Corps base at Parris Island SC where as a Gunnery Sergeant he mentored new recruits….“Semper Fi”! Stepping down from active duty, Chuck moved back to his native Texas planting roots for his family in the community of Whitesboro near his parent’s farm in Sandusky.
As a volunteer for the City of Whitesboro Fire Department he spent years protecting his community and served for a time as Chief of the department. Chuck was an involved member of the community as little league coach and involved in Scouts. His long-term career was with Texas Instruments and, while working there, earned a bachelor’s degree in Drafting/Engineering from Texas A&M. Moving to Sherman, Tx he continued his career at Texas Instruments until his retirement in 2013. He was an endowed member of the Travis Masonic Lodge #117 of Sherman, Texas serving as Worshipful Master from 2012-2013. Chuck’s favorite hobbies included: fishing, hunting at his deer camp , beekeeping, Chili Cook-offs, meticulous car care and spending time at the Gunter farm.
Family and friends will remember him for his sharp wit, exceptional storytelling, devotion as a father, generosity as a friend, impeccable early morning lawn care, lover of the flavor lemon, storing cans of corn and “Tupperware” collecting. . For these reasons and more he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Per Dad’s request he will be cremated with no official services at this time. The family will set a celebration of his life at a later date.
“Oorah!”
Thank you for the wonderful Memories, with all the kids, Rest In Peace Chuck you are loved.

Chuck was a character!
I knew Chuck and his family for many
years.
He always treated me like family.
I’m so glad that I had the opportunity
to visit with him while he was at the rehabilitation center we talked about our kids grandkids etc etc.
Chuck was a brother when we were little kids. I remember when he was 10 he was Driving his Dad’s Pickup on the Farm. I was 9 and it seemed normal. We had our 22 rifles and thought we were Davey Crockett it seemed normal. We did things we shouldn’t have and not enough of what we should have. It was the USA in the 1950’s. Life seemed normal. It wasn’t perfect just normal. We took corners at 100 miles and hour on old country roads It seemed normal. We sinned but did good deeds it seemed normal. One thing I’ll never forget was the Sandwich Kyla made for him. He came unglued because she put to much mayonnaise on it. Started hollering and complaining to their mom. I laughed my ass off about that and still do to this day. It seemed normal. l will remember the Normal times with Brother Chuck.
EPI would not have been the same without Chuck. He was a good guy and quite the character. Prayers for the family.
Chuck was cool. You never knew what he was going to come up with next. RIP
Chuck told me that one day he would be Worshipful Master of Travis Lodge 117. And so he was.
So mote it be, brother.
Chuck was a true friend and will be greatly missed at the poker/deer camp. Whenever he stopped dealing and started telling one of his “tales”, we knew that it was time to get another beer, for it was going to be awhile;
And he NEVER told the same one twice. He did make a mean bowl of chili.
Chuck, Cliff and Gene are waiting for you, and I will be along soon enough to do the cooking, as usual.
Love you, brother.
So sorry to hear of Chucks passing. Prayers for tte family amd all that loved him.
Chuck was best man at Phil’s and my wedding. They were roommates when Wendy and I met them. We always had a great time together and I especially remember him pulling up in his corvette. He was always a lot of fun and a wonderful friend. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Thanks for the corvette reference. I remember it clearly

Rebecca, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. We worked together at TI& I enjoyed hearing all his stories. He was a good friend & will be truly missed by all that knew him!????
I worked with Chuck at TI for over 10 years and he was a good friend of ours. Chuck had a great sense of humor and many of his funniest stories actually happened to him. RIP Buddy!
Oh gosh what a loss. I knew Chuck from our days in Olney. Even went on a couple of dates. Drove through a blinding snow storm coming back from the movies. Great memories. So sorry for your lose.
I went to school with Chuck. We had may adventures growing up in a small town. Because he was the youngest in our group of kids, we pulled a lot of pranks on him. I lost track of Chuck after I got married. I saw him last at his cousins funeral and we caught up some on our lives. I thought of him as a brother and he will be missed.
RIP buddy!!!
I met Chuck in the early 70’s. Chuck had a great smile and a wonderful sense of humor. I spent a lot of good times with him and Wendie, my sister. They were married here in Nova Scotia. Over the years our families have forged a well traveled path; Massachusetts, Texas, Nova Scotia. Wendie, Carrie, Rebecca, Jake, and Rachel travel those warm paths and we all join them and their families in celebrating Chucks life and his indelible footprint on our hearts, always.
Hope he is out there driving a winged corvette through the clouds. Love to all.
Loved being around you at TI Chuck. Rest in peace. May God bless you and your family. Tony
