Sherman – Funeral services for Baxter Dudley “Pete” Ireland, 86, of Sherman, TX will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro, officiated by Rev. Robert Field. Interment will follow at Kendall Chapel Cemetery in Sherman. There will be a visitation held at the funeral home one hour prior to service.Pete passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 in Whitesboro, Texas.

He was born in Van Alstyne, Texas on September 15, 1932 to John D. and Charlotta M. (Sweeney) Ireland. He served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Pete was a Christian man who spent 28 years teaching school as a Math teacher and an Industrial Arts teacher. He was an avid gun collector and Aviation buff. He loved to sing and had recently learned to play the Dobro. He was a veteran and a member of the NRA, American Legion and God’s House Full Gospel Church of Tom Bean.

Pete married Rose Marie Barr in 1957 and is survived by their four children, daughter, Sheila Ann Ireland, daughter, Deirdra Jean Coyle, son, Peter Brian Ireland, son John Chelsey Ireland, nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Charlotta Ireland, his second wife, Dorothy Ireland, grandson, Brett Priddy, and sister, Patsy Jean Crookham.

Pallbearers will be members of the family.
