Lena Sue Allison, 70 of Gainesville, Texas passed away on July 30, 2023, in Denton, Texas. She was born on August 5, 1952, in Totz, Kentucky to Pearl Cornett and Arizona Hensley. Lena married Philip Ray Allison on March 20, 1970, in Gainesville, Texas. She worked as Material Management at North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville, Texas. She enjoyed going to the casino and out to eat with her friends and family. Lena was a strong, tough person and had endured a lot in her life. She loved her family and grandkids and was called “mom” to a lot of her children’s friends.
Lena is survived by her daughter, Bridgette Sluder and husband, Eddie of Gainesville, Texas; son, Kelly Allison and wife, Christie of Gainesville, Texas; grandchildren, Tristen Allison, Raegan Allison, Thomas Sluder, Sarah Sluder and Brianna Proctor; great-grandchild, P. D Reed; brother, Sonny Cornett; sister, Margaret Gilbreath; brothers-in-law, Michael Allison and wife, Patti, Jerry Allison and wife, Stephanie.
She was preceded in death by husband, Philip Allison and parents, Pearl and Arizona Cornett.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at10:00 am at Meador Funeral Home Chapel, 1204 E. California Street, Gainesville, Texas, officiated by Bro. Randy Taylor. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Gainesville, Texas. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Meador Funeral Home Chapel
I was blessed to know Lena. She always smiled the second she saw you and always had a hug for you. She fought long and hard but never gave up. She was a giving and thoughtful friend. I will never forget her and the fun and silly times we had. I know she is in the arms of our Lord now and is without pain. Rest in Peace my sweet friend. I love you.
Lena was such a wonderful person. She had suffered so much adversity with her health, but it never kept her from flashing her beautiful smile to everyone she met. I met her as a young girl at Scivally’s Grocery ( my dad’s store) where she helped her dad and grandparents shop. I always thought she was so beautiful. Even as a young girl she cut a striking pose when she entered a room. She seemed so mature. I was happy when I found out in high school that we would be in the same graduating class. I am so happy to know she is now in the arms of Jesus and has no more, pain, sorrow, or struggles. Fly high, Lena
