Funeral services for Trina Slaten, 61, of Sherman, Texas will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro, officiated by Rev. Rick Carney and Rev. Adam Spore.  Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro.  There will be a time of visitation for family and friends held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Trina passed into her everlasting life on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman.

She was born on April 10, 1957 in Gainesville, Texas to Red and Dorothy (Melton) Slaten.  Trina was a loving and compassionate person who spent her life caring for others as a surgical nurse.  Most recently working for Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman.  She was a woman who loved life to the fullest, always up for an adventure with friends and family, whether it was a road trip with friends from work or traveling with family.  You could always count on her to be the life of the party.  She loved spending time with her family, if she wasn’t working you could guarantee she would be with her grandkids.  She was their biggest supporter at all their sporting events.  She loved her family with all her heart, her girls, her mom, her sisters, her best friends Bren and Da and her grandbabies were her life.  In her spare time, she loved to read, shop for antiques and cheer on her Dallas Cowboys.  Trina was a fair-minded person who always kept a very positive attitude, with her you always knew where you stood in her life.

Trina is survived by her daughter, Myranda Minota and husband, Sterling of Melissa, daughter, Myrisa Banks and husband, Chris of Aubry, mother, Dorothy Slaten of Whitesboro, grandchildren, Ethan Rucker, Mackinnon Minota and Dionne Banks, sister, Debbie Neely and husband, Jimmy Don, sister, Jana Kniss, niece, Tennille Center, nephew, Josh Kniss and wife, Micah, best friends, Brenda Quick and Brenda Caldwell, as well as numerous cousins, and other nieces and nephews

Pallbearers will be Josh Kniss, Sterling Minota, Chris Banks, Jimmy Don Neely, Mike Allred and Rick Melton.

She was preceded in death by her father, Red Slaten.
