August 26, 1917 –  March 29, 2007  GORDONVILLE â?? Funeral Services for Leonard V. McGee, 89, will be 11 A.M. Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Sherwood Shores Chapel with Rev. David Frierson officiating. Interment will follow in Gordonville Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Sherman VFW. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro.
Mr. McGee passed away March 29, 2007 in Houston.

He was born August 26, 1917 in Waynoka, Oklahoma to John Franklin and Margaret Ann (Rogers) McGee. Leonard married Vera Morrison on Dec. 8, 1943 in Amarillo. He served the U.S. Army Air Corps, 8th Air Force, during WWII as a 1st Lieutenant flying a B-17 â??Flying Fortressâ? Bomber in the liberation of Europe, specifically the â??Battle of Normandyâ?. During his campaigns in the war, he was awarded the â??Distinguished Flying Crossâ?, Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, and the European, African and Middle Eastern Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. Leonard was involved in logistics for TWA Airlines. He was a career pilot for Long Bell Lumber Co., later to be known as International Paper. Leonard was a member of the Sherwood Shores Chapel. He loved his family, gardening and the outdoors.

Survivors include a son, Dan E. McGee and wife Laura of Parker; a daughter, Linda Macy and husband Dennis of Houston; three grandchildren, Steven, Kathryn and Christopher McGee; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera McGee; a son, Frank Allen McGee; two brothers, Wayne and Arlo McGee; and a sister, Marie Dickey.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Macy, Dan E. McGee, Pete Romero, Robert Manning and Chris McGee.
