October 9, 1925 –  June 1, 2007  WHITESBORO â?? Laurence Noel Saye, Jr., 81, passed away Friday, June 1, 2007 at the Whitesboro Nursing Center. A Graveside Service will be held 10 A.M. Monday, June 4, 2007 at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Whitesboro with Rev. Mike Flanagan officiating both services. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Laurence was born Oct. 9, 1925 to Laurence Noel Saye, Sr. and Lillie Rae (Smith) Saye in Ector, Texas.

Laurence moved from Ector to Whitesboro in 1935. A 1942 graduate of Whitesboro High School attended North Texas Agriculture College (now the University of Texas at Arlington) where he was in the cadet corps. He left college to join the Air Force in during WWII at the age of 17 in 1942. He served as an Air Force flight trainer and was honorably discharged in 1945. He worked for the railroad until 1948. He married Mary Kay Allen November 24, 1948. Laurence enrolled in Austin College where he earned a bachelorâ??s degree in English and Bible. He later did graduate work at Baylor University.

Laurence taught school and coached girlâ??s basketball at Whitesboro High School and later at Muenster High School. He taught and began the football program at Southmayd High School. He served as sales training coordinator for Moore Business Forms in Denton, Texas and later held the same position with the Xerox Corporation.

Laurence served the Lord as a Young Menâ??s Bible Class Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church in Whitesboro for around 40 years. He also sang in the First Baptist Church Choir and as part of a menâ??s quartet.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay Saye of Whitesboro; two sons, Larry Saye of Sherman and Charlie Saye and wife Michelle of Whitesboro; two daughters, Karen Pennell of Whitesboro and Cindy Tudor of Dripping Springs; a brother, David Saye and wife Denna Fae of Whitesboro; grandchildren, Kacy Russell and husband Joel of Whitesboro, J. T. Saye and wife Amy of McKinney, Kirk Womack, currently serving in the US Navy, Samantha Tudor and Jake Tudor of Dripping Springs, Christine Saye and Chad Saye of Whitesboro and Collin Pennell of Whitesboro; great â?? grandchildren, Reid and Rylee Kate Russell of Whitesboro; nephew, Bill Cooper of Roswell, New Mexico and niece Carol Anne Cooper of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Honorary Pallbearers are; Kirk Womack, J.T. Saye, Jake Tudor, Chad Saye, Collin Pennell and Joel Russell.
