May 28, 1949 –  March 21, 2012  GAINESVILLE â?? Funeral Services for Johnnie Mack Harwell, 62, will be held Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lighthouse Church in Denison, Texas with Rev. Raymond England and Rev. Al Morris officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Collinsville, Texas. All service arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas. Family visitation will be Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.He passed away on March 21, 2012 in Denison, Texas at Texoma Medical Center.
Johnnie Mack Harwell was born on May 28, 1949 to Robert L. and Vera (Braswell) Harwell in Sherman, Texas. He graduated from Ennis High School. He met his wife, Gwendolyn â??Gwenâ? (Heffley) Harwell, while working with her at the Grayson County College bookstore. They married on March 21, 1970 at the Shady Grove Methodist Church in Cooke County, Texas. He was the owner/operator of Johnâ??s Jungle Florist in Collinsville, Texas. He loved gardening and flowers. Orchids were his favorite. He was employed at GTE as a warehouse supervisor for 20 years. He also worked for Lake Kiowa Security, Denton State School as a residential supervisor; and a front end manager at Cupboard Natural Foods in Denton, TX. He was a licensed minister and led the Collinsville Bible Study Group. He loved collecting coins. He was very proud to have received an invitation to attend the inauguration of George W. Bush.
He is survived by his wife, Gwen Harwell of Gainesville, TX; daughters: Lisa Sconce and husband, Chad, of Callisburg, TX; and Leah Harwell of Gainesville, TX; grandchildren: Hunter Sconce and Stormie Sconce; brother, Jack Harwell of Whitesboro; adopted daughter, Angel Van Dyke and son Aden Bailey; special family friend, Doyle Harvey; numerous nieces and nephews; and an army of steadfast friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Vera Harwell; a pre-born son, John Noah Harwell; brother, Robert Harwell; and sister, Viola Seiber Walters. Pallbearers will be Hunter Sconce, grandson; Robert Seiber, Jr., great nephew; L.A. Bridges, Clint Bridges, Brian Peterman, and Bryan Taylor.
