December 25, 1937 –  March 25, 2018  Gainesville – Jerry Wayne Acker, 80, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at his home in Denton, Texas. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Meador Funeral Home of Gainesville.He was born on December 25, 1937, in Myra, Texas, to William H. Acker and Welna Odell (Higgins) Acker. He married Marilee Bullock on June 30, 1962, in Renner, Texas. Jerry was a supervisor at Texas Instruments for almost 40 years. Jerry was previously active in his church, including serving as Deacon and being one of the founding members of the Pioneer Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marilee of Denton, son Terry Wayne Acker and wife Tammie of Boyd, Texas. Daughter, Sherri Lee and husband, David Putman of Hochatown, Oklahoma. Grandchildren, Kristin and Shane Hazelton, Kayla Niblett and Joe Brooks, Brittany Kemp and Paige Knight . Three Step-Granddaughters, Kenetha and Derek Anderson, Amanda Bogart and Vanessa and Charles Simmons along with twelve Great-Grandchildren. Jerry was also survived by his faithful canine companion, Daisy.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
