May 22, 1928 – October 5, 2016 DENTON-Funeral services for Thomas Albert Garbacik, Jr., 88, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Ken Hildebrand officiating. Interment will follow at Dixie Cemetery in Whitesboro, TX. Family visitation will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, Friday, October 7, 2016 at the funeral home. Thomas passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.
He was born on May 22, 1928 in Sugarloaf, Pennsylvania to Thomas Albert Garbacik, Sr. and Julia (Mylet) Garbacik. He married Joann Chisum on April 25, 1964 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Thomas was one of 10 children born to Thomas and Julia. He served as a test pilot in the Army Air Corp during WWII, and was stationed in Alaska. Thomas loved hunting, fishing, painting, taking care of farm animals and enjoyed watching sports. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and was a founding member of the Denton Elks Lodge #2446 and served as a Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler.
Survivors include his three sons; Tim Garbacik and wife, Debbie of Collinsville, Kevin Garbacik and wife, Sandy of Sadler and Tony Garbacik of Denton; grandchildren, Kaci Garbacik, and Sarah Garbacik; and 1 great grandson.
Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas A Garbacik, Sr and Julia Garbacik; wife, Joann Garbacik; 4 brothers and 2 sisters. .
