February 19, 1927 –  January 7, 2011  GORDONVILLE – Funeral services for Roy Raymond “Rusty” Cross, 83, will be held Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Gordonville, Texas with Rev. Rusty Waller officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Gordonville Cemetery. All service arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas.Rusty Cross passed away at his home in Gordonville, Texas on January 7, 2011.
He was born on February 19, 1927 to Walter D. and Cora Alma (Floyd) Cross in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He married Alice Rosalie Root on January 21, 1951 in Great Bend, Kansas. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He served in the Navy from 1945 – 1946. He was a District Manager for Halliburton, retiring in 1991 after working for 37 years. He was the owner of the Walnut Creek Resort from 1980 – 1998.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Cross; his parents, Walter and Cora Cross; three sisters, Barbara June Hickman, Alma Laverne Bogle, Lucille Rice, and a brother, Walter N. Cross.
Pallbearers will be Ron Root, Paul Root, Dale Skinner, Tim Taylor, Randal Chambers and Billy Ray O’Bryant.Honorary Pallbearers are Halliburton retirees.
