My condolences to Cathy, Claude and the rest of the family. Ross and Claude WERE Public Works for the City of Gainesville. My memory of Ross Tamplin started around 1960, watching him operate that red, four wheel, articulating Austin road grader, of which he was a master operator. No two men since cared about doing what was right for the good of Gainesville.
May God reward his faithful servant with eternal life.
I’m so very sorry, to hear about your dad. He was such a sweetheart. He laughed whenever he’d see me cause I always talked about that beautiful wavy hair. My prayer’s are with you.
Ross and Merle lived across the street, when I was younger and dating. I spent many pleasant times, sitting at their dining table, talking to Merle as she did the ironing. We had discussions about everything, and I treasure those memories. I first heard the name Dan Johnson, from Merle. She said so many nice things about him, and she was right. Dan and I were married for 60 years and 4 months, before his passing. On our wedding night, Ross and Merle cut the side out of a big cardboard box and painted “Just Married”, in bright colors. They tied it with rope ,to the back of Dan’s 1957 Ford Fairlane 500. That sign has always been in Dan’s closet, and is still there today. It will remain there as long as I live. Through the years, Dan would be cleaning his closet and would pull the sign out to show me. It always brought a smile to both of us , as we reminisced about the wonderful couple who took the time to make that little work of art. I will miss Ross, as I have missed Merle. They were both wonderful people and I am thankful that they touched my life!
Brenda, I am so incredibly sorry to hear about your dad. You all will be in my prayers.
So sorry for your loss
