November 5, 1955 – January 17, 2010 GORDONVILLE â?? Rod Manning, 54, of Gordonville, TX passed away on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010. A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 at Faith Harvest Church in Kingston, OK with Pastor Michael Hobbs officiating.
Rod was born on Nov. 5, 1955 on Tinker AFB in Midwest City, OK. Rod is the son of James and Regena Somerville of Gordonville, TX and previously of Amarillo, TX.
Rod grew up in Amarillo, TX and attended Tascosa High School. After graduation, Rod moved to Arkansas and finally settling down in Gordonville, TX at Lake Texoma. Rod loved life and was loved by all who knew him. Rod loved horses and his dogs (Boxers). He adored Lake Texoma. Rod spent many wonderful hours at the lake with family and friends. He made many great memories.
Rod was a good friend and his friends were good to him. Rod was a fun person to be around. He was a true cowboy, through and through. Rod was an avid Dallas Cowboy, Texas Ranger and Nascar fan (especially Dale Earnhart, Sr.). He will be sorely missed. â??Goin to the lakeâ? will not be the same without Unkie Rod.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Heather Manning of Cincinnati, OH and Amanda Manning of Antlers, OK; his parents, James and Regena Somerville of Gordonville, TX; 3 sisters, Robin and Chuck Van Hoose of Amarillo, TX; Rhonda Askew and Mike Talley of Kingston, OK, and Teresa Lambert of Amarillo, TX; 4 grandchildren; 7 nieces and nephews, and 6 great-nieces and nephews.

I’m sure that I grew up with Rod. He was my best friend when we lived on North Carolina Street in Amarillo. We played together as children. I always had a crush on his sister Robin. My name is Ray Baker, Rod and Robin knew me as Eddie. I have often looked back on those days with fondness. I am so sorry that Rod has passed, he was a great friend.
