Oneida Voncille Monkres Kassen,86, of Valley View passed away on Friday, May 22nd, at the North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville. Graveside service will be held Wednesday, May, 27, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Valley View Cemetery. The rosary will be Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 6:00 PM followed by visitation until 8:00 PM at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville.
Voncille was born on February 11, 1934 in Leon, Oklahoma. She was a graduate from Leon High School. She was one of ten children, and the only daughter, born to Howard and Osie Monkres. She married John Kassen on September 13, 1958 in Ft. Worth, TX. Voncille was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was also a member of the St. Mary’s alter society. Before Voncille’s retirement she was a bookkeeper having worked at the Pioneer Valley Association.
Voncille is survived by her daughters, Angela Drews and husband, Jimmy of Whitney, TX; Lisa Tuma and husband, Kevin of Hillsboro, TX; sons, Buddy Kassen and wife, Shirley of Midlothian, TX; Phillip Kassen and wife, Glenda of Valley View, TX; Alan Kassen and wife, Marla of Valley View, TX; grandson, Eric Kassen, Jake Kassen, Clint Kassen, Garret Kassen, AJ Kassen and Cale Kassen; granddaughter, Kristy Kassen; step-grandsons, Chris Drews and Eric Tuma; step-granddaughter, Chelsea Tuma; great-granddaughters, Erika Kassen, Hollyn Kassen, Elizabeth Kassen; great-grandson, Ruger Shuemaker; step great-granddaughters, Ava, Violet, and Wendy Drews; step great-grandson, Jordon Tuma, and step great-granddaughter, Madelaine Tuma; brothers, Gene Monkres of California; and Billy Monkres of Dumaguete City, Philippines.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Coach John Kassen on January 21, 2000. Her parents and brothers, Howard Jr., James, Harold, Bobby, Kenneth, Keith and Jack Monkres.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Valley View cemetery fund.
