Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Hite, 95, will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with son, Wesley Hite officiating. Interment will follow at Collinsville Cemetery.
Liz passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, at Gainesville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on Feb. 2, 1929, in Collinsville to Elbert and Ola Scyrkels. Liz married Paul Wesley Hite on July 24, 1948, in Sherman, TX. Liz was a devoted wife and mother. She was an exemplary Southern Baptist woman and dedicated her life to loving and serving Jesus Christ. She was a charter member of Collinsville Bible Baptist Church, serving as a trustee. Liz was an active member and served as president of the National Alliance on Mental illness (NAMI). She loved history and experiencing it all through travel. Liz instilled traditional Christian values and placed Jesus as the cornerstone of hers and her grandchildren’s lives.
Survivors include son, Wesley Howard Hite and wife, Marian of Collinsville; three grandchildren, Jennifer Roy, Christina McManigell and Samantha Young; five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Paul Wesley Hite; sons, Galan Ryan Hite, and Alan Hilton Hite; grandsons, Christopher Hite and Lance Roy.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Hite, Marshall McManigell, Jeremy Clark, Rick Bates, Bubba Umstead, and Brad Kerr.

Liz was one of the sweetest ladies. I have many fond memories of her. Sending my thoughts and prayers to all during this difficult time.
She will be missed . She always so good to me .

Liz was one of the “room mothers” of our class in school. I used to go visit her in the care home in Collinsville. I enjoyed talking to her.
She was such a sweet person we had a lot of fun times when I cleaned her house
