John Lewis Clifton, 95, of Gainesville, Texas, passed away at his home on October 16, 2019.  There will be a graveside service for Mr. Clifton at 2:00pm, Monday, October 21, 2019, at the Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas.  There will be no visitation.  He will lie in state Sunday, October 20, 2019, from 1:00pm – 5:00pm.

Mr. Clifton was born on December 26, 1923, to T.M. Clifton and Ruby Kretzschmar on the family homeplace in Gainesville, Texas.  He was born, raised and died there.  He loved to fish, hunt, work his cows and the land.

He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and one sister.
