Jewel Dean Guthrie, 85 of Whitesboro, Texas passed away on March 18, 2024. She was born on November 23, 1938, in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Melvin Jefferson McCoy and Mary (Coffey) McCoy. Jewel attended Spalding High School in Oklahoma. She retired from MEMC (TI) in Sherman, Texas. Jewel loved to crochet and cook.
Jewel is survived by her son, Jerry Guthrie of Whitesboro, Texas; daughter, Barbara Mitchell and husband, Pokey of Gordonville, Texas; sister, Dorothy Ledbetter of Seminole, Oklahoma; brother, Herman McCoy of Holdenville, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jason, Sara, Ryan, Katie, Austin and Tyler; 6 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Mary McCoy, Sr.; son, Johnny Guthrie; brother, Melvin McCoy, Jr.; grandchild, Robert Charles Knight.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Dixie Baptist Church, Whitesboro, Texas with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm officiated by Rev. Terry Barnett and Rev. Brandon McCoy. Interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Whitesboro, Texas.
