Jerry Lemuel Russell, 84, of Gainesville, Texas was called to his eternal home on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
Jerry was born on June 4, 1940 in Cooke County to Robert Lemuel and Thelma Jane (Walker) Russell. He graduated from high school in Callisburg and married Yevonne Murray on July 20, 1960 in Madill, Oklahoma and together they raised four children. He was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist church. Jerry was a big outdoorsman, and that led to his lifelong dream of being a carpenter, who enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was a wonderful family man and loved his wife, kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren tremendously.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Yevonne Russell of Gainesville; children, Tony Russell and wife, Angie of Gainesville; Rex Russell of Whitesboro; and Dana Russell of Collinsville; grandchildren, Amanda DeJernett, Emily Harvey, Samatha Allison and husband, Michael, Colby Russell, Zach Russell and partner, Brian, and Danielle Bryant, great-grandchildren, Bowe Allison, Dottie Allison, Maesyn DeJernett, Wade DeJernett, Creed Alison, Moxxi Allison, Nate Harvey, and Bella Harvey, sister, Patsy Mauldin of Gainesville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Thelma Russell, son, Jerry Dean Russell, brother, Jimmy Russell and brother, Johnny Russell.
Funeral services honoring Jerry will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro, officiated by Ricky Patterson. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 20, 2024 at the funeral home.
