December 1, 1931 – January 8, 2018 Sadler – Memorial services for Herman Edward Murrell, 86, will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. John McCollister officiating. Visitation will be held one-hour prior to service at 1:00 pm in the chapel.Herman passed away on Monday January 8, 2018 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
He was born on December 1, 1931 in Marysville, Texas to Walter and Nettie (Young) Murrell. He attended schools in Sadler but graduated from Whitesboro High School. Herman was a member of the Southmayd Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Herman retired from Western Union and then after 20 years of service he retired from Anderson Clayton/Kraft Foods in Sherman. He married Barbara Bland on August 12, 2011 in Southmayd, Texas. Herman was a jack of all trades who enjoyed clock making, upholstery, wood crafts, painting pictures, ceramics and he loved working on his computers, downloading and printing pictures he had taken. He served on the Election board as a pole Judge for Grayson County, the S&S CISD school board for 8 years and on the Sadler City Council for many years.
Herman is survived by wife, Barbara Murrell of Sadler; daughter, Yvonne Murrell of Utica, Ohio; daughter, Patti Sammons and husband, Billy of Sadler; Sons, Keith Murrell of Columbus, Ohio, Jeffrey Perkins and wife, Sharon of Sadler, Randy Perkins and wife, Shelley of Leonard, and Danny Perkins and wife, Karen of Gunter. He has 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Rodgers Murrell; parents, Walter and Nettie Murrell; brother, Marvin Murrell; and three sons, Anthony Murrell, Walter Murrell and Jeffrey Murrell.
