Dr. Herman J. Blankenau, 91, of Valley View, Texas, formerly of Bloomfield, Nebraska, passed away peacefully from a stroke on Saturday, March 16, 2024. He was surrounded by his family.
Herman was born to Herman and Christine Blankenau of Dodge, NE, on January 24, 1933.
He was in the U. S. Army from 1953-1955. In 1957, Herman married Alice Ann Zeman. In 1961 he earned his Doctorate Degree in Dental Surgery from Creighton University. After graduation from Dental School, he and Alice moved to Bloomfield, NE where he established a dental practice that lasted over 36 years. In that time, he and Alice raised 6 children. Upon retirement, they moved to Valley View, Texas to be close to family. Here he spent his time fishing, playing with his grandchildren and taking care of his dear wife until her death in 2012.
Herman is survived by one daughter, Suzanne Wilson of Lincoln, NE, and his sons, Thomas of Lincoln, NE, David of Valley View, TX, John of Amesbury, MA, Andrew of Valley View, TX, Eric of Republic, MO; four daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers; John, Anthony, Edmond, Richard, William, Francis and his dear wife, Alice.
A Memorial service will be held at Meador Funeral Home Chapel, 1204 E. California Street, Gainesville, Texas on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 2:00 pm
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Even though I didn’t know you appreciate your time in the service. You are a true Hero.
Uncle Herman was always so kind and nice to be around. We will miss him!
