April 16, 1942 – January 24, 2014 Douglas Reber, 71 yrs, born April 16, 1942 to Burdett and Bernice Reber in Littlefield, Arizona, passed away January 24, 2014 at his home following a brief illness. Doug was a retired operating engineer and operated heavy equipment for most of his career. He met the love of his life, Cathy Carson, while living in Henderson, Nevada and they were married in Las Vegas in March of 1978. Shortly after that they moved to Palmdale, California where they lived and raised their family for the next 28 years. Doug and Cathy moved to Whitesboro, Texas after Doug’s retirement in 2006 where they have spent the last 8 years enjoying the quiet life with their dogs and horses, and an occasional outing on his Harley. Doug Reber was a quiet man who always thoughtfully observed the world around him. He always had something good cooking on the BBQ and a good conversation to go with it. If you were lucky enough to be counted into his close circle of friends, you knew you had a fierce and loyal friend for life. Doug was deeply devoted to his wife, Cathy, and was a strong and loving father and grandfather. He lived a good life filled with love, family, and friends and leaves us all the better for having known him and having been a part of our lives. Doug leaves behind his wife Cathy; daughter, Laurie Mobbs (husband David); son, Brian Reber (wife Kristine); and son, Eric Brennan (wife Donna); and 10 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. Doug was preceded in death by his son, Mike Reber; and his parents Burdett and Bernice Reber. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas.
