Dorthey Jean Trammell, 76 of Mesquite, Texas passed away on April 9, 2023.  She was born on February 7, 1947, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Liria Hinojosa and Haskell C. Smith. Dorthey married Jimmy Trammell on August 9, 1963.  She worked as a Secretary for Texas Instruments until her retirement.  Dorthey was a member of the Eastern Star and Victory Baptist Church.  She was a good cook, great mom, caring, giving and loved her animals.  Dorthey loved family holiday gatherings with her huge family present especially at Easter.  She was a devoted wife and mother.

Dorthey is survived by her sons, Timothy Allen Trammell and wife, Dawn; Tony Ray Trammell and wife, Regina; daughter, Julie Denise Trammell; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Jennifer Dardiganyon; several nieces and nephews; brother in laws; Larry Trammell and wife, Arlene, Donnie and Joyce, Richard & Glenda “Kookie” and Curtis Hill.

Dorthey was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Trammell; grandson, Brandon Trammell; sister-in-law, Patsy Hill.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 6:00pm-8:00 pm at Meador Funeral Home, 1204 E. California Street, Gainesville, Texas. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Meador Funeral Home Chapel, Gainesville with interment to follow service at Callisburg Cemetery.
