In loving memory of Darrell Glen Vanhoozer of Callisburg, Texas who was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
A man whose presence brought light and laughter into the lives of those around him. Known for his roles as a loving husband, father, motivator, hard worker, and a generous spirit who left an incredible mark on all who knew him. Born on December 27, 1960 in Louisville, Kentucky to Joe L. Vanhoozer Sr. and Margaret Ann Parsley, he was one of ten children. On July 11, 1977 Darrell married Rhonda Gaskins in Celina, Tennessee. They had three children, Curtis, Carla, and Tanya. Darrell and Rhonda started their life and family together in Kentucky on a small farm raising pigs for the market. During this time, he successfully completed several certifications to work a government job in weatherization and general contracting, as well as earning his certification for heavy equipment operator. In 1989, the next chapter of their lives took them to Texas. Darrell worked for a chrome plating company and then a pipe company. Then, using his certifications that he had earned in Kentucky; he went on to become a self-employed General Contractor. Darrell loved hunting, fishing, and farm life; especially his Longhorn cattle and his dog Troop.
He leaves behind a wife of 46 years, Rhonda; son, Curtis Vanhoozer; daughter, Tanya Vanhoozer; daughter, Carla McBride and husband, Dustin.
Darrell leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered by his surviving family and friends. Though he may have departed this world physically, the memories he created and the love he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. As we bid farewell to Darrell, let us celebrate the life he lived, a life filled with love and laughter.
