January 23, 1922 – April 29, 2011 COLLINSVILLE – Funeral Services for Clarence Robert Watkins, 89, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Collinsville with Rev. Jerry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Pilot Point Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.Clarence passed away on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Texas Health Presbyterian – WNJ Medical Center in Sherman.
He was born on Jan. 23, 1922 in Pilot Point to Louie and Ollie (Smith) Watkins. He married Edith Hampton on March 16, 1942 in Bowie. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WW II in the 86th Air Squadron. He was retired from Texas Instruments. He also farmed, raised cattle and stayed busy in his workshop. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. When he was younger, he worked 2 years in the C.C. Camp.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Watkins of Collinsville; 2 sons, Daniel Watkins (Peggy) of Collinsville and Steve Watkins of Sherman; a daughter, Carolyn Walker (Phillip) of Lake Kiowa; a sister, Hazel West of North Richland Hills; son-in-law, Pete Pilcher of Collinsville; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Ollie Watkins; a daughter, Evelyn Pilcher.
Pallbearers are Pete Pilcher, Jeff Parrent, Bobby Parrent, Tim Parrent, Scout Walker and Steven Paul Watkins.
