Carolyn Charlene “Mamie” Gilbreath, 77, of Whitesboro, Texas left her earthly home and ascended to her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.
Carolyn was born on May 17, 1945 in Clarendon, Texas to Eugene and Lois (Robinson) Clark. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Whitesboro and an owner of Gilbreath Tank Trucks. She enjoyed fishing, horse races, and traveling. She was an avid bowler and traveled to New York and Las Vegas for bowling tournaments. To her family she was Mamie and was dearly loved by them all. Carolyn cherished her family and loved the time she spent with them.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Murriel Gilbreath of Whitesboro; daughter, Darla Mitchell and husband, Jackie of Whitesboro; daughter, Sharon Light of Whitesboro; daughter, Tina Hobbs and husband, Paul of Callisburg; grandchildren, Austin Light, Colony Handshy and husband, Austin, Connor Light, Carter Light, Lane Hobbs and fiancée Bayleigh Howard, and Loni Hobbs; great-granddaughter, Fischer Handshy; sister-in-law, Judy Doss and husband, Frank, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Lois Clark, granddaughter, Jordan Mitchell, and brothers, Kenneth Clark, Bobby Clark, and Joe Clark.
Pallbearers will be Paul Hobbs, Lane Hobbs, Austin Light, Austin Handshy, Carter Light, Lorenzo Chavez, and Jackie Mitchell.
A private family graveside service honoring Carolyn will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Oakwood Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Mike Flanagan. Carolyn’s family will be receiving friends from 10:45 to 12:00 in the commons area at First Baptist Church of Whitesboro on Friday, April 14, 2023.

Carolyn Gilbreath was a wonderful person with a huge heart for friends and family. She and her husband Murriel are some of the finest people you could ever meet. They have helped many many individuals and organizations throughout the years with their time, financial resources and love for others. Without a doubt, I know she has a special place in heaven now with no more physical pain or suffering. We will be praying for comfort to all of the family. RIP Carolyn
