Bose Thomas “Tommy” Norris

April 20, 1940 – April 4, 2025

 

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bose Thomas Norris, lovingly known as Tommy to most and Pa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He passed away on April 4, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

 

Tommy was born in Gainesville, Texas, to his late parents, William and Hattie Finney Norris. He attended Gainesville High School before embarking on a successful career in the construction industry. His work with Austin Paving took him to the Texas coast, and he eventually settled in Mesquite, TX, where he capped off his distinguished career with Dallas County. There, he and his beloved wife, Kittie Lipsey Norris, built a beautiful life centered around love, family, and adventure. Together, they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage.

 

An avid outdoorsman, Tommy found joy in hunting, fishing, and living his dream on his property in Oklahoma. There, he loved cooking and entertaining family and friends, creating lasting memories with every gathering. Known for his warm hospitality, witty storytelling, and passion for the simple pleasures in life, Tommy had a unique ability to bring people together. His quick wit and playful sense of humor filled every room, leaving everyone in stitches and making him unforgettable to all who knew him.

 

He was preceded in death by his sons, Randy and Scott Norris. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kittie Lipsey Norris of Kingston, OK; son, Denny Norris of Kingston, OK; and daughter, Terri Norris-Timpe (Steve) of Mesquite, TX. He leaves behind his grandchildren: Chad Norris (Karra) of Anna, TX; Chelsie Baker (Chad) of Magnolia, TX; Stephanie Norris (Brant) of Van Alstyne, TX; Hunter Norris (Candace) of Wylie, TX; Tommy Norris of Kingston, OK; and Tony Norris of Kingston, OK. His great-grandchildren, Lane Baker, Lawson Baker, Luke Norris, Levi Norris, and Lee Norris, will carry on his cherished legacy.

 

A service to honor and celebrate Tommy’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Meador Funeral Home in Gainesville, TX.  Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM , Monday April 7, 2025 at the Meador Funeral Home in Gainesville. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) Foundation.
